Anger management is a challenge for many of us. Anger in itself is not a sin. Just look at Ps 7:11, 1 Kings 11:9, 2 Kings 17:18, or Mark 3:5. The difference is what to truly be angry about. For those issues worth becoming angry over, how are we to handle those situations? Several verses in the bible help answer that question. Prov 15:1 says, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." What about Prov 15:18? "A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel."
There are many verses within the bible that can help manage anger. The trick is to learn from those verses and put them into play within our lives.
Anger for many in our society is an excuse for poor behavior and bad judgment. We can become angry over small and trivial issues. Meanwhile we never become aroused by homelessness, or poverty, or countless people going hungry. We don't get angry over injustice, but how dare someone take the parking place I wanted. The old saying is really true...anger is very close to DANGER!
